Alongside other pieces from her catalog, she performed five songs from her latest album, The Anthology of UnAmerican Folk Music, a project three years in the making. Marisa set out to discover the music of people and places she had been told throughout her life were "un-American." Rather than allowing those labels to define her relationship with the world, she chose to move toward these musical traditions, to listen, learn, and share what she discovered.

On a perfect September evening, we had the pleasure of welcoming Noah Gundersen back to his home state of Washington for the fourth performance of our inaugural season. With his deeply personal songwriting and unmistakable voice, Noah gave us a beautiful, intimate performance beneath the trees. It was a magical evening in the Garden, and one we're grateful to have experienced alongside everyone who joined us. And now, we're happy to share it with you.

There is a warmth and intimacy to Tomo’s music that feels especially at home in a setting like the Garden. Through thoughtful songwriting, gentle humor, and a genuine ability to connect with an audience, Tomo gave us an evening that felt both deeply personal and wonderfully shared. As daylight faded beneath the trees, his songs carried throughout the garden and invited us to be present together, with the songbirds occasionally joining in from the branches above.

There is a sense of discovery in Yasmin’s music. She has the ability to take a familiar instrument and reveal possibilities within it that many of us never knew existed. On this late-summer evening, Yasmin filled the garden with a captivating set of original music as the sun began to set, birds moved through the garden, and the first hints of autumn began to appear.

Surrounded by towering trees and a small audience, Elijah shared an intimate set of original music that beautifully embodied what we hoped these Sessions could become: a place to slow down, listen deeply, connect with one another, and be fully present with the music.
